Private Family Seeking a Full-Time Live-In Special needs Nanny (Autism Experience Required) in Kings Point, New York

Position: Full-Time Live-In Nanny
Schedule: Preferred 6 days per week, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (the family may consider a 5-day schedule for the right candidate)
Salary: $120,000+ per year, plus a health insurance stipend
Start Date: Flexible / ASAP
Relocation: Yes – open to candidates willing to relocate

About the Family

A warm, loving, and private family in Kings Point, New York is seeking a dedicated live-in Nanny with experience supporting children or young adults with autism to care for their 21-year-old son.

 Their son is verbal, kind-hearted, enjoys being around others, and thrives with consistent guidance, encouragement, and meaningful interaction. He is on the middle of the autism spectrum, with his greatest challenges being communication and independence. He is not aggressive and has a calm, easygoing personality.

The family considers their son the center of their world and is searching for a compassionate, long-term nanny who will become a trusted and valued part of their household. The ideal candidate will serve as a true right-hand person, providing attentive care while encouraging continued growth, engagement, and independence.

The family has three children, including two adult daughters who live out of the home.

Travel

The nanny must be comfortable traveling with the family throughout the year or remaining at the family's home with their son when the parents travel.

Typical travel includes:

  • Florida for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's
  • St. Barts during the winter
  • The Hamptons in August
  • Various destinations throughout Europe

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive one-on-one care, supervision, and engagement throughout the day
  • Encourage communication, social interaction, and development of independent living skills
  • Assist with morning and evening routines, including dressing, hygiene, and bedtime preparation *MUST be comfortable helping with hygiene needs*
  • Prepare breakfast and assist with meals throughout the day
  • Provide hands-on assistance with toileting and hygiene, ensuring proper care with dignity and respect. *MUST be comfortable helping with hygiene needs*
  • Support daily hygiene routines, including washing up and changing clothes
  • Maintain appropriate supervision by accompanying him throughout the home while allowing appropriate independence
  • Engage in meaningful conversation and activities, offering consistent language exposure in clear English
  • Accompany him to outings such as bowling, restaurants, and community activities
  • Ride with the family’s driver for school pick-up and drop-off as needed
  • Support bedtime routine around 7:30 PM, including getting into pajamas and settling for the night
  • Monitor overnight using bedroom monitors; assist if he wakes during the night (rare)

  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally
  • Flexible schedule and commitment to a long-term position
